Entry Requirements
Individuals need to be 16 years or over and currently working in either a paid or voluntarily capacity. NVQ Level 3 is for senior workers. There are no formal entry requirements but learners may find it useful if they have already completed a Level 2 qualification. A good standard of literacy is required.

Tell me about the course in general
Before you start this course, you’ll need to be already working in a supervisory role in health and social care, where you are responsible for supporting others or making decisions.
• During this course, you’ll apply your knowledge and skills to a variety of work based activities, most of which are challenging and may not involve one of your current duties.
• You’ll build up a portfolio of evidence with the help of your tutor. And you’ll be assessed throughout the course in your workplace in several ways including, direct observations, professional discussions and witness testimony. You may also be able to use experience you’ve already built up, as evidence.
Course Content
The qualification is made up of three mandatory units
1- Establish communication with clients for advice and guidance
2- Support clients to make use of the advice and guidance service
3- Review own contribution to the service

5- Interact with clients using a range of medi
6- Assist advice and guidance clients to decide on a course of action

8- Assist clients through advice and guidance to review their achievement of a course of action
9- Negotiate on behalf of advice and guidance clients
10- Contribute to the effectiveness of teams
11- Enable and advice and guidance clients to access referral opportunities
12- Provide and maintain information materials for use in the service
13- Facilitate learning in groups
14- Enable learning through demonstarations and instructions
15- Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
16- Ensure your actions contribute to a positive and safe working environment
How is it structured and what will I study?
You have to take these units:
HSC31 – promote effective communication for and about individuals
HSC32 – promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment
HSC33 – reflect on and develop your practice
HSC34 - promote the well-being and protection of children and young people (if you want to specialise in children and young people), or
HSC35 - promote choice, well-being and the protection of all individuals (if you want to specialise in adults)

What can I go on to next?
You could apply for more senior managerial roles with increased responsibility for planning care. Or if you want to carry on studying, you could move on to an NVQ level 4 qualification in health and social care.
